Terms & Conditions
These terms cover your use of Cross State Payroll. By using the calculator or the guidance on this site, you accept them.
Estimates only — this is not advice
Everything this site produces is an estimate. It is not tax advice, legal advice, financial advice or accounting advice, and using it does not create a professional relationship of any kind between you and us. We are not a registered tax agent service.
A calculator works from the handful of figures you type into it. Your actual payroll tax position depends on facts it never sees — how your entities are structured, which payments count as wages, whether contractor payments are caught, what exemptions and rebates apply to you, and how your revenue office assesses your particular circumstances. Two businesses entering identical numbers here can owe different amounts in reality.
No warranty as to accuracy
The site is provided on an “as is” basis. We give no warranty, express or implied, that any figure, rate, threshold or explanation on it is accurate, current or complete, or that the site will be available or error-free.
Confirm your liability with the relevant state revenue office or a registered tax agent before you lodge or pay anything. Do not treat an estimate from this site as the figure to put on a return. Checking it is your responsibility, not ours.
Rates are maintained on a best-effort basis
Rates and thresholds are recorded from official revenue office publications, each with the source and the date it was last verified — see About for the current figures and their sources.
This is a best-effort process, not a guaranteed one. Rates change, most commonly on 1 July, and sometimes mid-year through legislative amendment. There may be a gap between an official change taking effect and this site reflecting it. During that gap the calculator will produce figures based on superseded rates. We don’t commit to any particular update timeframe, and we don’t notify users of changes.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or anything it produces. That includes underpaid or overpaid tax, interest, penalties, assessment or reassessment costs, professional fees, lost profits and business interruption, whether the loss is direct or indirect.
You use this site at your own risk, and you remain solely responsible for what you lodge and what you pay.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability can be limited rather than excluded, our liability is limited to resupplying the relevant service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
We are independent of every revenue office
Cross State Payroll is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, approved by, or connected to Revenue NSW, the State Revenue Office Victoria, the Queensland Revenue Office, or any other Australian government body or revenue authority.
This is not a government website. Where those bodies are named on this site, it is to identify whose rules or published rates a calculation follows, or to point you to the official source. No such reference implies any endorsement or official standing.
Acceptable use
You’re welcome to use the calculator for your own business or your clients’. Please don’t attempt to disrupt the site, or scrape it in a way that degrades it for other people.
Changes to these terms
These terms may change as the site changes. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date below updated.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and the courts competent to hear appeals from them.
